El Capitan Canyon, just north of Santa Barbara along an unspoiled stretch of the California coast, is renowned as an all-season comfort camping destination. Originally a traditional campground, El Capitan Canyon reopened in 2002 as an upscale, outdoor destination and quickly known for its picturesque canvas safari tents and contemporary rustic cedar cabins. It was one of the first to be coined “luxury camping.”
When the summer crowds have gone and the kids are back in school, El Capitan Canyon becomes a destination for weddings. With the Santa Ynez Mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west, El Capitan Canyon is a stunning backdrop for fall or winter weddings on the Central California Coast. The Canyon hosts weddings from the last weekend in October to March.
Ceremony and Reception can be held at El Capitan Canyon. Overnight accommodations are available for an additional charge.

El Capitan Canyon can accommodate small, intimate weddings to larger groups of 300 guest.
Custom catered receptions and events are held in romantic yurts or tent lodges. Cabins and tents are organized into small villages throughout the Canyon offering natural gathering spots.
Yurts: El Capitan’s for yurts, 30’ X 30’ and 16’ X 16’, are structures of white canvas stretched over circular wooden frames with lots of windows and wooden flooring. The unique acoustical architecture has a natural sound amplifications, ideal for musicians and wedding speeches.
Tented Lodges: These large, airy tented lodges can be utilized as one large reception spot or can be configured into any desired combination of smaller areas.
Outdoor Sites: The canyon features several areas to enjoy the outdoors. There is the Paradise Point Site, the Canyon Market and the Village Center Lawn, Pool-side Amphitheater and two Creek-side Picnic Areas. Banquet-sized picnic tables are conductive for informal or catered events.
Safari Cabin Suite: Added last year is the Safari Cabin Suite, located on a private hilltop with a sweeping ocean and hillside view. This two-bedroom cabin suite includes a full bathroom, living room, fully equipped kitchen and wrap-around deck. Perfect for small gatherings.
There are restrooms located on the property near sites.
El Capitan Canyon requires that all wedding have a professional wedding planner the day of to assist.
All guests must stay on the property. No day-use guests are allowed except for approve outside vendors such as Photographers, Hair Dressers, etc.
To accommodate our guests, Quite Time begins at 10 pm.
The Canyon can arrange catered events in any of its yurts or tent lodges. An evening in one of the yurts or tents can be a casual affair or more elaborate with white linens and fine china.
Menus are created around the bounty produced by the Canyon’s own organic garden and Santa Barbara County growers, many of whom practice sustainable farming. Themed catered events are available, such as a fish fry, wine country feasts and more. Menu samples are available upon requests.
No outside catering companies are allowed on property unless you buy-out the entire Canyon. A $20.00 per person fee will apply. This is not a labor fee. Additional labor fees will apply if you request an El Capitan Canyon staff member to assist in the set-up of your event or in staffing the event. El Capitan Canyon Management will be on hand to assist in directing outside vendors at no additional charge.
All outside vendors need to be provided by ECC management.
They have adopted a No Cars in the Canyon Policy. Your car must be parked in one of the parking lots during the duration of your stay. Please note canyon map or ask staff for locations and assistance.
No amplified music of any kind is allowed. Weddings that would like amplified sound need to hold their reception at Canyon Market.
Alcohol is limited to Beer and Wine only. You may bring in your own beer and wine for a $10.00 plus service charge per person fee. Hard alcohol is permitted only with a buy-out of the entire canyon.

Labor and Equipment is service charged 21.55%. Prices are subject to change without notice.
At the sole discretion of the Resort, you must provide at your expense, liability insurance for events involving equipment including, but not necessarily limited to, athletic events, tenting, carnival-type games or attractions, moon bounce, face painters, DJ, etc. This insurance must be in an amount not less than $2,000,000 and must name El Capitan Canyon as additionally insured. A certificate evidencing insurance in accordance with this Section must be furnished to the Resort at least seven days prior to your event. Additional insurance may be required based on the type of event. Liability insurance must be in an amount no less than $2,000,000.00
You and the Resort agree that if any portion of this contract is canceled by you for any reason, the Resort will be damaged in an amount which would be difficult to estimate. Accordingly, should you cancel this contract within the following periods, you agree to pay Resort an amount equal to the following applicable amount as liquidated damages: 1) Cancellation four weeks or more prior to your event, the amount of your deposit, or 2) Cancellation fewer than 2 weeks but more than three working days prior to your event, the amount of your total space rental plus 50% of your estimated food and beverage charges. You agree that the amounts set forth in this section are fair and reasonable and that the Resort shall be entitled to collect such amounts from you, as applicable, as liquidated damages. No refunds will be given for any reason, including inclement weather.
