A few months ago, Felici Events blogged about Santa Barbara’s new overnight accommodations, Hotel Indigo. This boutique and unique hotel houses a satellite branch location for the Contemporary Arts Forum, a unique and boutique location to host a reception, cocktail party, rehearsal dinner or engagement fete.

The building’s inviting modern interior and prestigious location, along with its state-of-the-art facilities make the Contemporary Arts forum conducive for celebrations and events in a cocktail style reception.  They do let you know in advance what type of artwork they expect to displayed, in order for the client to plan their layout appropriately.

Moroccan  style serves as a popular source of design inspiration for many Santa Barbara weddings and events.  Although we have covered Moroccan inspired invitations before, this one by Lazaro Press & Design is particularly fabulous and comes from an inspiration post that was featured by Style Unveiled and also featured amazing florals of Nico Designs, luscious linens by La Tavola, beauty by Luna Bella Make-up Art, and of course all of the photos are by the talented Melissa Musgrove.

You might know that Santa Barbara, also known as the American Riviera is a unique and beautiful place to get married, with spectacular venues from the beaches to vineyards, historic adobes, grand estates and equestrian ranchos.  What you might not know, is that the BEST reason to get married in Santa Barbara is our community of phenomenally talented and passionate professionals who live and work here. Today I was reminded of this.

On Wednesday, August 10 the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission held a hearing to review a proposed ordinance that could threaten the use of private properties for events.  The details are complicated but the ordinance could have a devastating impact on the Santa Barbara wedding and event industry.

I would like to thank the inspiring, passionate, and outspoken members of our local event community for mobilizing an outpouring of support to speak out against this ordinance.  The hearing was in North County, Santa Maria therefore many vendors boarded a bus and rode the hour north to speak in person. Others gathered in Santa Barbara and joined via live feed. There were also endless letters sent to the commission in advance of the hearing.

The outcome is still uncertain but due to the passionate, thoughtful, and persuasive arguments presented by many impressive individuals, the ordinance has been placed on hold for further review until October 12.

I always feel honored to be a part of the Santa Barbara event community but today was particularly special. We all hope that the Planning Commission will hear the unified voice of our outstanding professionals, and ensure that the vibrant event industry in Santa Barbara continues to thrive for years to come.

Well . . . not exactly your typical “backyard” bridal shower.  This gorgeous event is a La Fete Weddings bridal shower that Owners, Colette and Kaitlin recently hosted for a friend in their own backyard. The blue and yellow hues are fresh, crisp, and the perfect, cheerful palette for either Spring or Summer – especially

For events up to 200 guests includes:
$3000.00 site fee and $750.00 ceremony fee
For events exceeding 200 people
$3500.00 site fee and $1000.00 ceremony fee

Hourly Rate for over Five Event Hours: $500 per ½ hour

A non-refundable $1,500 deposit and signed contract are required to book the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. Total estimated charges are due 10 days before event date.  Deposit in non refundable and will be credited toward final balance.
A 20% service fee and 8.75% tax on all food and beverage will also be assessed.

Time Allotments:
Five hour events, additional time may be purchased.  Music must end by 11:00 p.m. on weekends.

Catering: Pampered Palate is the Club’s in-house catering company. They are happy to produce custom menus to fulfill you and your guest’s expectations. From casual stationed and passed hors d’oeuvres to formal five-course plated dinners, we will create wonderful memories with our delicious cuisine.  Private tasting tailored around your specific menu choices can be arranged at your convenience.

Parking: available on site, some events may require valet parking.
The club must approve all contracted entertainment in order to comply with existing residential and club policies. Restrictions apply to amplified music as follows:
Sunday through Thursday – Music must end by 10:00 PM
Friday and Saturday – Music must end by 11:00 PM
Non-amplified outdoor music will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Considerations will be
made to ensure the residents of the Polo Club condominiums are not disturbed.

Alcohol Policy: The Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club provides full bar service for events.  Bar offerings are customized and can be limited to beer and wine only, or can be extended to include our full bar selection.
The Club allows clients to bring in their own wine and champagne and a $12 Corkage fee is charged for all opened bottles on premises.

What is Provided:
Includes 5 hours of event time, Polo entry tickets, tables, chairs, basic linens, china, silverware, glassware and private bar.
Ceremony Fee includes:  1 hour Ceremony time, 1 hour rehearsal time,  Chair set up and break down, Gift Table, Bottle of Champagne.
Ceremony Sound System available for additional charge upon request

Additional decorations brought into the club must be approved one week prior to your event date.  Items may not be attached to any stationary wall, floor, window, ceiling or beam with nails, tape or staples or any other substance that may damage the facility, furnishings or fixtures.

Additional Services:
Exhibition Polo Match – Entertain your guests with an up close and private viewing of the “Sport
of Kings”. Meet the players and get a first-hand look at this spectacular sport. Subject to field
conditions and availability.

Golf Cart Polo – The real fun begins when your participants become the players with the polo
players themselves in the driver’s seat and you with the mallet! Subject to field conditions and

Corporate Day Sponsors – Event sponsor for Sunday polo match with admission for up to 75
