First let me say that I really don’t have anything against the classic chiavari chair. I think they are beautiful, versatile, and have certainly graced some pretty spectacular Santa Barbara wedding receptions. That said, it’s always fun to explore other options.
I happened to be ordering chairs for an event last week and discovered that Town & Country Event Rentals has these fabulous vintage 1942 folding chairs. Yes, they are called 1942 folding chairs because they are exactly that – vintage chairs from 1942. The best part is that they are incredibly affordable (under $4 each) and comfortable. I think these treasures would make such a lovely compliment to any Santa Barbara Wedding.
I couldn’t find any photos of these charming chairs used in an actual Santa Barbara Wedding, but I did find this great photo by Amy Carroll which provides some fun inspiration . . . You may also picture them at the Historical Museum, vineyard property, rustic barn, estate garden . . . well, you get the picture.
While I was on the topic, I thought I might hunt around for some other Santa Barbara Style seating inspiration . . . Enjoy!

So this last photo may seem like a relatively ordinary chair – but if you’re looking for something comfortable for your guests, you can’t go wrong with this one. I can’t tell you how many times I have had guests checking in at events that ask what type of chairs will be at the reception. So many people have back problems and issues with wobbly chivari chairs or the lack of support that folding chairs have. I actually had one of those guests with back issues, call me over to hug me after being seated in her chair. They are not inexpensive to rent, but if your budget allows, certainly a thoughtful investment in the comfort of your guests.
