Blue Rock Candy, Gob Stoppers, Candy Floss and enough eye candy to have you giggling off your chair. “Sweet love” does rock as demonstrated in part two of our colorful Jalama Carnival. There is something about that canyon that evokes the need to play and as you can see, we played! So happy to share the fun. –Armando Martinez, Alegria by Design

Welcome to the Carnival where fun, vibrant colors and love ruled the day. Jalama Canon Ranch and Vineyard with its breathtaking views and quaint accommodations transports you to another time. Using the ranch’s scenery and its turn of the century cattle ranch feel as inspiration, we created our colorful Carnival. I enlisted the assistance of a few friends who happen to be some of Santa Barbara’s most creative and talented event professional. A little glitter, a breath taking backdrop and of course the sweetest brown mare all helped to create a magical photo shoot…the laugher we shared that day comes through in each photo. Enjoy!
Jalama Canon Ranch and Vineyard is a picture perfect location for that rustic-chic wedding weekend. Definitely not your traditional wedding location, the ranch enclave is nestled in the heart of a 1,000 acres of working ranch land near Lompoc off highway 1. The ten minute drive to get from the main road to the homestead is romantically winding and picturesque passing groves of oak trees, creek crossings and a hand laid stone fence. When you do reach the sculpted canyon, something washes over you and it becomes difficult to resist the urge to explore and play.

In case you missed this gorgeous wine country, inspiration table on Style Me Pretty we asked Event Planner and Designer, Joy Proctor of Joy de Vivre and Floral Designer Kelly Kaufman of Florette Designs if we could share their fabulous Santa Barbara Wedding style with you here.
Here is a little insider info about their inspiration from Joy:
Kelly Kaufman of Florette Designs and I set out to create a table inspired by the romance and charm of Santa Barbara Wine Country. We wanted to keep the palate sweet but fresh, opting not to go with traditional wine country colors. To create the vintage look, we hung three fabulous crystal chandeliers from LBPS Events, directly over our solid wood table, and chose decor that was antique and distressed. Kelly created romantic floral arrangements of garden roses, wild raspberries, hydrangeas, and delicate maiden hair fern, in white washed iron urns. Antique bottles held individual flowers adding to the vintage charm. We dressed the table in a beautiful antique lace runner, and placed clusters of mercury glass candle holders between the flowers. To keep the look charming yet rustic, I purchased some great stoneware plates and paired them with antique silverware. We used a combination of fluer de lis glassware and light aqua water goblets, slightly reminiscent of aqua mason jars.
For dessert, we created a truly yummy sweets table, lined in mini flags cut out of wrapping paper in muted colors. We served raspberry lemonade in mason jars with cute drink flags that read, “enjoy!” To keep with the vintage theme, we served salt water taffy in apothecary jars, cupcakes and mini bunt cakes from lace ceramic cake stands, and rock candy sticks were placed in mercury glass vases.
Rachel Korrey, Special Events Manager of Firestone Winery was kind enough to let us use their scenic Vineyard Mesa location for the shoot. We set up beneath a big, old oak tree overlooking the vineyard. The talented photographer Ian Grantcaptured it all in the beautiful images below. Enjoy!
Choosing the perfect dress goes hand in hand with choosing the perfect location. Your dress should reflect the feeling of where you decide to say ‘I Do’. The secret is to match style to style without losing your own personal identity. Stay true to your taste and ensure your dress works with your body type. Throughout the dress shopping experience keep the conceptual nature of the location in mind.
Below, for your inspiration I have handpicked a selection of Bridal fashions straight from the 2010 runways and paired them with some of Santa Barbara’s most popular venues.
For a winery, ranch or rustic estate a more romantic and whimsical feel applies. Your guests will embrace the wind gently blowing through the trees; the smell of lavender floats in the air, their toes may be tickled ever so slightly from the grass beneath their feet. Softer color pallet, lace, and delicate features will better be received by their eye.
For a smaller intimate wedding on the beach, at a courthouse, or in a park, a more casual and simple tone should be set by the dress. Instead of the perfect little black dress we all have in our closet, find your perfect little “white” dress and wear it with confidence. Short is in ladies, pair it with fun accessories for a bold statement. The length of a wedding gown doesn’t have to be long to grab their attention.
