Indian American Destination Wedding Beachfront in Cabo

Jake Douglas of Golden Glow Weddings brought us today’s multi-cultural destination wedding on the pristine shores of Cabo, Mexico. Both Indian and American traditions combined as these two families merged into one and created a day filled with vibrant colors, multiple ceremonies, outfit changes, and unbeatable views. And, wedding photographer Diego Chavez, with help from Addison Parrish, made sure to capture it all on camera.

As a version of the Indian wedding custom, Barraat, the groom was escorted into a decorated room at the Hyatt Ziva wearing a Sherwani and Safa, or a turban, and also carrying a sword embellished with jewels. His bride then joined him, wearing a bright teal lehenga, for several rites and a prayer as their family and friends surrounded them sitting on multi-colored cushions. The Haldi Ceremony was also included in the day, where a yellow turmeric paste, meant to provide good luck and to ward off evil spirits, was applied to both the bride and groom’s skin.

In line with more American traditions, later in the day, the bride changed into her white dress, although still showing off the henna designs on her hands, and the groom into his classic black tux to share a first look. They then held a ceremony right on the beach with the ocean, somehow more blue than the sky, stretching out endlessly in the background.

The reception, also held right in the sand, featured heartfelt toasts, patterned linens, and lightly tinted glassware. Plus, dancing - a wedding must in every culture or religion - helped to end the night as the sun went down.
