From its earliest incarnation, in 1886 as a popular stagecoach stop to its years as a surreptitious hangout through Prohibition, The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern has long held a fabled place in Central Coast lore. Revered and raucously enjoyed for generations, the beloved landmark opens a new chapter as the definitive luxury destination in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Mattei’s Tavern is built upon the ethos of gathering and community and is a convivial space for weddings, corporate events and social occasions. The lush Hartley Lawn, adjacent to the landmark water tower, offers a dreamy backdrop for any milestone celebration, while The Barn counters with warm interiors that play host to myriad festivities, big and small. Other spaces throughout the property are entertaining and welcome, with an expert in-house team on-hand to customize and arrange every detail.

Pricing: $$$$ ($10,000-$14,999 / day)

Price Range: Our current food and beverage minimum for Saturdays on the Hartley Lawn/Barn in 2025 is $26,000 (or $300 per person, whichever is higher) plus 26% event management fee and 7.75% sales tax. The site fees for these spaces on Saturday are $14,000 plus 7.75% sales tax in our peak season.

Time Allotments: We contract 6 hours for weddings, and can add additional hours for $1,000 per hour. Events can go as late as 1am inside The Barn.

Alcohol Policy: Full bar with spirits. Multiple bar packages available, priced per person.

Decorations: Lighting is included at Gin's Tap Bar. Lighting over Hartley Lawn is available as an upgrade. You are welcome to bring in your own lighting/rentals/decorations/etc. from approved vendors.

Cancellation Policy: 25% deposit to book events. Event cancellation fee schedule applied at time of contract.
