The Scoop on Sanders & Sons Gelato

If you’re from the Ojai area you know Sanders & Sons. The scoop shop has been serving up hand-crafted artisanal gelato and sorbets since it first opened in 2017. It dazzles with unique signature flavors like Valrhona Chocolate and The Sicilian Godfather (pistachio) but also a long list of limited edition tastes.

One of the best parts about the company though is that ice cream lovers can experience all the flavors of Sanders at their own party, event, or even wedding through the shop’s catering services. Their mobile scoop shop brings the entire service including staff and customizable toppings to your venue, while their party-in-a-box option allows for an easy, self-serve treat at your own pace.

With a wide range of flavors and options to suit every taste, Sanders & Sons is dedicated to making your special day even sweeter. Recently, Santa Barbara Wedding Style caught up with Gabriela from Sanders & Sons to explore a few of the team’s favorite wedding memories and the exciting trends they’re currently seeing among couples. Discover how they can elevate your event with a touch of gelato magic!

What is your favorite location to work? What is the style that makes this location special for couples?

We love any location that encourages the same kind of fun and delicious atmosphere that gelato brings.

What is your #1 top piece of advice you give to couples before they hire you?

Our options are fully customizable — from cones to gelato sandwiches, from affogatos to a sundae bar — it's important, however, to not give too many options to your guests so the gelato acts as an addition to the celebration rather than a big decision to be made (one bride wanted
15 flavors, which was too much).

What is trending with your couples?

Affogatos are big right now.

What are 2 things you wish couples would do for every wedding?

Offer dessert options!

To date, what wedding have you done that has made the top of your favorite list, and why?

My favorite weddings are the ones where people are truly happy and celebrating, where they come for two, three, four tastings and scoops.
