Unique, Reverse Order Engagement Shoot After the 'I Dos'

A year ago, Dani and Soph were just friends visiting the San Luis Obispo area, and today they are married. On 2-22-2022, Dani and Soph exchanged vows in their apartment complex in an intimate ceremony, but the twist... neither officially proposed! So they decided to do things a little bit backward. Soph contacted MacKenzie Rana Photography to book an engagement session with the plan to propose to Dani when they least expected it. Soph was busy behind the scenes planning a weekend away back to where they realized they were more than just friends, although everyone else could clearly tell.
A few spreadsheets later and a super-secret plan, Dani and Soph, were dressed in their ceremony attire for their engagement session at the Fish House in San Luis Obispo, a secluded Air BnB just outside Edna Valley features a barn and a cabin on the pond. The evening was beautiful as they toured the property and documented their connection, sharing all the details of how they met and came together.
Dani's bouquet was handmade by Dani's mother and shipped just in time for their intimate ceremony. Their attire was casual but reflected their individual and unique styles, perfectly complimenting each other. It was time to make it over to the surprise as time went on.
In just a few minutes, Soph and Dani would pose back to back as they closed their eyes. Asking them to breathe and take in this moment. Counting down, 3-2-1, they would turn around, and Soph would get down on one knee and propose to Dani as a handful of their friends slowly came out from the barn holding signs, "Dani, will you marry me?" or "Dani, you WILL marry me?"
Even as far as Chicago, Soph and Dani's friends traveled from all over to join in the surprise. Dani could barely believe what was happening. Then a favorite photo moment occurred. And this, more than any pose, is the energy and connection that Dani and Soph share. This is exactly the connection we desire to capture.
